I can’t think of many people who don’t appreciate this time of year, whether it be for the sunshine, the warm nights, or the long days. I love summer for all of these reasons, but the main reason this season makes me giddy is for the food. Well, what were you expecting?
Summer is a time of peaches, nectarines, blueberries, raspberries, pineapples, herbs, legumes, you name it. I want them all, constantly. I’m not the only one, either – there’s a whole world of food bloggers out there who are participating in Summer Fest, a summertime food blogging event. This week’s theme is stonefruit, so expect to see lots of peachy posts around the blogosphere.
Here’s the schedule for 2009:
- Tuesday, July 28: HERBS. Any and all.
- Tuesday, August 4: STONE FRUITS (peaches! nectarines! pluots! yes!).
- Tuesday, August 11: BEANS-AND-GREENS WEEK (either or both, your choice).
- Tuesday, August 18: TOMATO WEEK. How do you like them apples?
In celebration of Summer Fest, I’m going to be post as much fresh food as I can over the next few weeks before I go out of town. If you have any recipes you’d love to post, please leave a comment and I’ll pick one or two to post on Wasabimon, with your name and photo.
Let’s celebrate the bounty of summer!
