I’m still aglow from the BlogHer Food 09 conference that I attended this past weekend. I met so many wonderful people and got to revisit with some friends that I’d met at IFBC in February. I can’t even express how much energy this group of food bloggers have! I’m so completely excited to be a part of this community.
The panels were amazing, and I was heartbroken to have to choose between them – but I ended up camped out in the photography track all day. I got to learn from the best in contemporary food photography: Matt Armendariz, Heidi Swanson, Lara Ferroni, Diane Cu and Todd Porter. I took a ton of notes (if anyone wants them I’m happy to share – email me) and came home inspired. This reawakened urge to create is something I’m really grateful for.
After the conference, three ladies that I’ve come to view as the “big sisters of the food blogging community” threw an afterparty at a bar downtown. Thank you Jaden, Ree and Elise for hosting us all and showing us a great time. It was hilarious seeing everyone let their hair down and get their drink on, but I spent most of the evening hiding outside because everyone was having too good a time! Food bloggers + booze == shenanigans. That’s all I going to say about that – besides that I ended up with a big handprint on the seat of my jeans. Heh!
Thank you BlogHer for putting together a great event. I learned and experienced so much that I’ll just pretend lunch never happened.
I’d also like to thank Nasoya for sponsoring my attendance to the event. Lots of BlogHer attendees got some great coupons and swag!

Ciao Steph! Sounds like an ah-mazing time. I was SO bummed to have missed it. (It was my little man’s bday) hoping that next year the scheduling will work out (& maybe it might even be on the East Coast tee hee). I’d <3 to see your photography notes! Not that I think you needed any help. Your fotos are gaw-geous girl! Mwah!
Ciao bella! I’m SO going to the next one in NY – I’ve never been to the East Coast (can you believe it?).
I’ll send you my notes right now.
Hi Steph:
Thanks so much for the kind words, and for being a part of the inaugural BlogHer Food Conference.
Please keep your eyes on your Inbox for our usual post-conference survey. We’re looking forward to everyone’s suggestions, so we can make BlogHer Food ’10 even better (so, yes, there will definitely be a “next year”!)
Thanks again.
Elisa, for the BlogHer Team
Thank YOU, Elisa, for planning it! I’ll keep an eye out for the survey. How can I get on the mailing list where new conferences are announced? I’m always the last to know.
See you in NY next year.

Thanks, Elisa! I appreciate it.
I’m so glad we got to meet (though I barely recognized you without the blue hair!) You’ve totally inspired me to try some baking recipes w/ almond flour.
It was great to meet you too! I guess I accidentally branded myself with the blue hair.
I’m going to be posting more almond flour recipes in the upcoming months, so stay tuned. I’ve got a GREAT one for muffins, and some lovely cakes as well!
Hello! I just stumbled upon your piece on Freezing Jams in NPR and found your site! Great site: fab pics, and I too am jealous to have missed the San Fran event. I don’t think I’ll be passing up on Mexico though. Check out my site when you have a moment and let me know what you think!
Heh, you just lit a fire under me to get on Mexico! I’m so worried it will sell out or airfare will go up.
I really like your site, and I LOVE your logo. Very nice! How did you come up with it? I also really dig how your recipes have the black box so that they really stand out – those baked bananas look divine.
Definitely going in my read list.
Are you going to the Mexico conference?? Hope so… I\’ve already got reservations. Sounded too fun to pass up. Hope to see you there!
Yes! At least I hope so… I’m planning on finalizing arrangements this week. Did you get a good deal on airfare? I’m still trying to figure that out, so if you have any tips I’d love to hear them.
